Oct. 6 — I was told by Linda Marie Frank, host of a cable TV show called “The Writer’s Dream,” that two half-hour interviews I recently gave will be shown on Cablevision Ch. 20 on Thursdays at 3 p.m.
In the first one, I was interviewed solo about my Vietnam memoir “Heroes to the End” and my work with United Veterans Beacon House, where I am the Board vice president. Beacon House, a Bay Shore nonprofit that runs homeless shelters, has received three $100,000 grants from UUCSR. That show will air on Oct. 25, Dec. 6 and Jan. 17, 2019.
For the second, I shared time with two other veterans (author Ron Scott and ex-Marine Joe Giannini) and discussed general issues pertaining to veterans. We were interviewed by author Jack Bilello. That segment will air on Nov. 1, Dec. 13 and Jan. 24, 2019.
I am a 1966 graduate of Chaminade High School in Mineola, NY. I graduated from Nassau Community College in 1968 and Hofstra University in 1970. I was a sports reporter at Newsday from 1966-1999, covering 5 Super Bowls and 9 Stanley Cup Finals. I was a features desk copy editor from 2000 to Dec. 31, 2014, when I retired. I am married to Lynn, a social worker, since April 9, 1978, We have one son, Peter, 33, an air traffic controller in Ohio.
