Sept. 12:
I was pleased to represent United Veterans Beacon House today at the Michael M. McCarthy Foundation annual golf tournament at Nissequogue Golf Club in St. James. It was a beautiful day, and more than 100 players tested the 6,643-yard par-72 layout on western Suffolk’s North Shore. The foundation was nice enough to allow Beacon House to share proceeds from the event with our good friends at the Long Island Coalition for the Homeless. Participants played 18 holes, had lunch and dinner and made generous raffle donations. We share office and storage space with LICH at Liberty Village in North Amityville. Beacon House CEO/president Frank Amalfitano thanked organizer Pat McCarthy for including us in the affair.
