July 6 — My friend and Newsday colleague Jerry Zezima came up with the title “Heroes to the End” for my Vietnam memoir. My friend Harvey Cohen exemplified that title by being a hero to myself and others right up to the end of his life. Harvey died in late May at the age of 97. The Unitarian Universalist Congregation at Shelter Rock in Manhasset held a memorial service for him on July 2. The worship hall was packed. In…..
