Jan. 30: George Vecsey and I were Newsday colleagues when I was a part-timer (Nov. 1966-April 1969) and full-timer (April 1969-September 1970) covering Long Island high schools and he primarily was covering major league baseball. Jan. 28: Before I went to Vietnam, I spent two years at Hofstra University in Hempstead, N.Y. I graduated in 1970 with a B.A. in American History. About 10 years ago, I spent a semester at the journalism school teaching an ethics class, replacing a teacher who was on sabbatical. Jan. 22: Due to the impending snowstorm, my Jan. 24 speaking engagement at the East Williston Library was postponed until Jan. 31 at 2 p.m. I returned to speaking action this past Wednesday night at the Dolphin Bookstore in Port Washington. Jan. 4: After a four-week rest over the holidays, I’m resuming my book tour this coming Sunday at 2 p.m. at Lindenhurst Library.
